Six Questions You Must Ask To Buy The Perfect Loveseat

By Gerald E. Caldwell

A ideal loveseat matches your current furniture, is comfortable and provides a little more seating than a single chair but takes up less space than a couch. There are options in choosing a loveseat to consider when you go to buy one to make it the “perfect loveseat.” Thinking about materials, uses and additional accessories beforehand will make purchasing a loveseat a much easier task.

1. Leather or fabric? When you go in search of your perfect loveseat you will want to plan in advance whether you would like leather or fabric for the cushion covers and overall look. Leather can be extremely durable but has the possibility of scratching and staining. Fabric coverings on a loveseat can be treated with exceptional fabric protectors that will repel water and stains. Leather is a single color and frequently works with other living room materials and fabrics.

2. Plain fabric or print? If you decide on fabric, you’ll need to choose between all sorts of fabrics, from velvets to corduroy and thick weaves to fine cottons and polyesters, printed or plain. One benefit of choosing a single color fabric over a print is accessorizing. You can add colorful pillows and afghans that can be changed out with the seasons or the d?cor of your room, should it change. A print fabric has multiple colors that you can accessorize around as well, with one color chosen from the print to place a single color pillow or throw that matches other furniture in the room.

3. Durability or charm? Do you prefer a rugged, hearty loveseat that is welcoming to pets and kids? If so, go for a denim, corduroy or leather covering that’s been treated to resist stains and is tough on pet toenails and children’s spills. Otherwise, a fine fabric, either print or colored would look good on your loveseat.

4. Comfort or looks? There are some gorgeous loveseats manufactured, but they aren’t necessarily comfortable. Think about the use of your furniture and if it provides a place to lounge or much more of a waiting place. If it merely is a stopping point in your home, by all means, buy the actually cool, but not so comfy piece. If it is to be used as a place of relaxation in front of the television, go the comfy route.

5. Convertible or ordinary loveseat? Loveseats can be purchased that can be converted into a single bed. This is convenient prospect for a single bed is going to be far more comfortable than a loveseat to sleep on. A convertible might be a bit much more expensive but can be worth it in the long run if you have plenty of house guests.

6. Ottoman or no ottoman? Many loveseats can be purchased or ordered with an ottoman. An ottoman is basically a foot rest, but in the right environment it can serve as a living room table when a tray is placed on it. The extension of the loveseat will also provide additional seating as necessary.

Whatever you decide, the key to finding the ideal loveseat is to plan ahead and consider its uses.
