Air Conditioning Units VS Swamp Coolers

By Stephan Marking

Air conditioning units and swamp coolers are found in many different homes across the state of Utah. Utah air conditioning is very important during the hot summer months. A lot of people have to ask themselves if they would rather have an air conditioning unit or a swamp cooler

There are advantages and disadvantages to both units. A swamp cooler is nice for places that have dry climates, like units. They bring in water to the air to cool it down. Swamp coolers, or Evaporated coolers, have been a popular choice throughout history.

Swamp coolers also can be cheaper than Utah air conditioning units. Swamp coolers may be a good choice if you only have a small area to keep cold. Swamp coolers are not meant for large areas.

Swamp coolers are also easier to install. Do-it-yourself people appreciate that they can put swamp coolers in themselves. Utah air conditioning companies are needed to install air conditioning units.

Swamp coolers are also less expensive. Swamp coolers can be expensive, but if you are looking for a swamp cooler that does not have all the bells and whistles you can easily find one for less than $500. This is the lower-end units, however.

Air conditioners have pros as well. Since they reduce the amount of humidity in the air, air conditioning units do not depend on the current climate. Swamp coolers do not cool down places that have high humidity, where an air conditioning unit would.

Air conditioning units also have the benefit that you do not have to winterize it. Swamp coolers are constantly using water and need to be disconnected and drained during the winter. Air conditioning units have a closed-system refrigerant.

Like most things, swamp coolers and air conditioning units have advantages and disadvantages. Study these out before purchasing one. That way you won’t be surprised by your purchase after it is installed.
