When To Perform A Background Check

Several years ago a background check for employment selection was virtually unheard of. Mainly high level executives and other major employees were vetted with any amount of scrutiny. In general circumstances, an interveiwee would provide their references which would likely be checked.

In the media there has been a number of incidences where prominent people have been proven to have been deceitful regarding their childhood or honary service in the army. Those who engaged these important or public individuals were ridiculed for not considering the consquences of not undertaking a full check.

So that a background check is correct and above board, it has to be proccessed in the appropriate way. Employers can now center their attention on the job seekers educational credentials. A company now has to make sure that what the candidate proclaims is true, as there are many forged diplomas being waved around. A single phone call to a school can usually give you this information; no need to pay a company to do this for you.

No one wants to engage a person with false papers, they will therefore match them with school reports to guarantee the claim is true. In truth, all you need to obtain this information is a phone call to the school – many colleges have whole departments that do nothing more than validate attendance records of former students.

To do a quality background check you should have the person’s permission, written, along with the social security number. Devoid of these records, any data you get back can’t be guaranteed.

A worthwhile and complete background investigation needs to be performed by professional investigators. The only problem to a hands-on approach is that it can require months of research. The only difficulty is that you need to know where the person resided previously.
