Carbon Monoxide has comes from fossil fuels like charcoal, gas, and a variety of oils.

Carbon Monoxide actually appears in our air constantly but at very low and no risk levels. If you happen to inhale large portions of the gas it can actually get into your lung and bind to your hemoglobin in your red blood cells and eventually stop the oxygen from getting to your brain.

Once you have decided on a brand model you can take your smoke and carbon monoxide alarm home and install it. Place it about five feet above a doorway usually around the kitchen and living areas. Each floor should have its own smoke and carbon monoxide alarm to ensure protection for every level with the same quality.

Remember when buying your smoke and carbon monoxide alarm that it only has a lifespan of about two year. An average smoke detector will last an upward of eight to ten years. Even with the significant lifespan different the benefits are well worth the extra money.

When the alarm sounds, have your family plan already worked out. Do not assume it is a test or is not a threat to you. Get everyone outside in the fresh air and check for any symptoms. Call 911 if anyone is and get the infected area ventilated quickly. You can do this my opening windows and turning on all the fans inside your home.
