When it comes to window shutter designs, there are more options that you may think. Should you choose the traditional and durable wood window shutters or opt for something more light and airy like the aluminium window shutter design? Or perhaps you should choose the cost efficient vinyl shutters?

Choices choices choices. But which is the right choice for you? Wood shutters have been around for centuries and thus, it is easy to see that they are durable and resistant. Wood window shutters can also be stained and painted which means you can change the color or touch up the wooden chips due to daily wear and tear. They also come in several different types including maple, cedar, oak, poplar and pine. Wood shutters can bring a rustic elegance to any room and may just be that extra touch that your living room is missing. Poly-wood shutters are an equally good option as they are resistant to impact and moisture. They will keep the cold air out. However, poly-wood cannot be painted and thus you have less color options.

Aluminium window shutter designs are more modern than your wood alternatives. They are also very resistant to the harsher elements including water, sun and wind. Aluminium is also not as bulky and can bring a more airy feel to the room. Vinyl window shutters are one of the most cost and energy efficient options for both windows and window shutter designs. They are extremely easy to clean and will last a long time. Vinyl window shutters come in a variety of different designs including traditional, batten panel, louver and board. If you are looking for a reasonably priced window shutter design, vinyl shutters are definitely worth looking into.

A final option is composite window shutters. Like wood shutters, composite window shutters are much bulkier than some of the other alternatives. However, they can fare all types of weather and also come in a variety of different styles. They usually open like a cupboard which means you can add a ounce of traditional into your window shutter design.

All of these window shutter designs come with plenty of pros and cons. The best way to determine which the right window shutter design is for your room is by thinking about your interior designing needs. The wrong window shutter design can ruin the entire balance of a room; however, the right window shutter design can make a room sparkle with elegance, charm and harmony.
