Memorial Day Barbecue

By

The year is simply flying by and believe it or not, this weekend is already Memorial Day weekend. Weve celebrated Mothers Day and Fathers Day will be here before you know it. In between these parental holidays is a three day holiday weekend (for most people anyway) where we start to say goodbye to spring and start the summer season off with a road trip or a backyard barbecue.

When the weather is nice many of us will take the opportunity to make the most of it by getting outdoors to enjoy it. Some people will happily jump on their motor boats or jet-skis and get out on the water for some playtime. Many will go fishing or hiking at a nearby park or lake for some much-needed fresh air. Others will choose to hit the road and head to the beach for some fun in the sun and surf.

There are many people that have decided to stay around home for the long weekend so they can just hang out at home and relax. Sometimes after running around all of the time during the week its nice to have nowhere to go - to just kickback and relax. And the best part of staying local is the money thats saved on hotels and gas " plus there arent any traffic headaches to deal with either.

If youre one of the people spending the time at home, why not get out the great, classic outdoor games like volleyball, horseshoes, and badminton. Or hop in the swimming pool for some water volleyball or just enjoy floating around in the pool with a cool drink. Even if you dont have a pool theres probably a nice one in town you can go to or you can buy one of the new inflatable pools and youll have it up and ready to swim in the same day.

Whats a long warm weekend without a family barbecue to enjoy? It can be as simple as hotdogs and burgers with corn on the side or it can be grilled tuna and steaks. Get some fresh, sweet corn-on-the-cob, some chips and dip, fresh watermelon, drinks, ice, and youre all set. And since youre cooking outside, the cleanup is a snap.

So keep your weekend as relaxing and enjoyable as possible by buying your food and toys before the weekend arrives. Dont forget to check the fuel on your grill too. If you get the errands out of the way then you wont have to deal with spending your entire Saturday in the stores. Instead, you can be resting in a lounge chair in your yard.

Making a big meal? Maybe it's time to treat yourself to a new cookware set. You'll find an excellent selection of professional cookware online at TheSmartCook.com.
