Its hard to believe that were now more than halfway through the month of March. Weve already celebrated Mothers Day weeks ago and before you know it, it will be mid-June and well be celebrating Fathers Day. But we wouldnt want to miss the nice long weekend in between those holidays " Memorial Day weekend. Time to usher in the sun and start planning ways to enjoy the warmest season of the year.
When the weather is nice many of us will take the opportunity to make the most of it by getting outdoors to enjoy it. Some people will happily jump on their motor boats or jet-skis and get out on the water for some playtime. Many will go fishing or hiking at a nearby park or lake for some much-needed fresh air. Others will choose to hit the road and head to the beach for some fun in the sun and surf.
A lot of people will choose to just stay local for the holiday weekend since its a great time to kickback and just spend some time hanging out with family and friends. Plus theres a lot to be said for staying local - youll save a lot of money on gas and hotels. And you wont have to deal with packing and traveling in traffic either.
So if youre staying home for the long weekend, its time to put up the volleyball net and get out the volleyball and badminton rackets for some good old-fashioned fun. If youre fortunate enough to have a swimming pool, thats a bonus. Theres nothing quite like a day spent relaxing in the pool in the convenience of your own backyard to make for a relaxing and simple weekend of fun. Of course there are inflatable pools that can be put up and enjoyed the same day too.
And whats a Memorial Day weekend without a big barbecue? Maybe you can cook up some hotdogs with sauerkraut, big juicy hamburgers and cheeseburgers, or grilled teriyaki tuna steaks. Then you cant forget some ears of sweet corn-on-the-cob plus slices of mouth-watering fresh watermelon to serve on the side. And the more you can cook outside on the grill, the less youll have to clean up in the kitchen.
So keep your weekend as relaxing and enjoyable as possible by buying your food and toys before the weekend arrives. Dont forget to check the fuel on your grill too. If you get the errands out of the way then you wont have to deal with spending your entire Saturday in the stores. Instead, you can be resting in a lounge chair in your yard.
Making a big meal? Maybe it's time to treat yourself to a new cookware set. You'll find an excellent selection of professional cookware online at TheSmartCook.com.
