Chlorine-Free Winterizing Kits For Swimming Pool: An Alternative For Chlorine Sensitive People

By Hugh Heide

We built our swimming pool 14 years ago when the kids we’re still living at home. Since then, we’ve been using chlorine-based winterizing kits for purification. For many years, this seemed like the most logical thing to use.

Two years ago, we began to notice that chlorine seemed to have a negative effect on my wife. Her skin and hair have become sensitive to chlorine. This disallowed her to swim in our pool each week and it even reached the point where she has to stop using the pool entirely. The possibility did not make either of us happy, considering the amount of money we paid to install the pool. Moreover, her doctor advised Linda to do exercises in the pool after her successful hip replacement surgery last year.

While this dilemma was going on within us, trying to decide whether Linda should stay out of the pool completely when we built the pool to aid in her healing, we understood the importance of keeping the swimming pool clean and using proper maintenance. As the days passed, we were faced with the yearly preparation of the pool and close it for winter.

It has been our priority to use quality winterizing chemicals for our pool since day one. One of the first things we gathered from our research in building a pool was the importance of following procedures for winterizing the pool. It taught us that winterizing kits contain specially formulated pool chemicals needed to get the pool ready for the cold days of winter. The proper chemicals will provide protection for your swimming pool in case of damage arising from water contamination, normal wear and tear and whenever the water freezes. Along with making it easier to open the pool when spring rolls around, these procedures will extend the life of your swimming pool.

Because of my wife’s allergies to chlorine, we started considering other options. We were aware of the risks of stopping and not using the winterizing kit altogether. When we checked out the internet, our search led us to 1800pools.com and we were excited to know that it is possible to use non-chlorine based winterizing kits. Chemical kits devoid of chlorine are as effective in killing algae and other winterizing substances and still provide a great sanitizing power.

The 1800 Pools web site was easy to explore and ordering was very straightforward; the winterizing kits were affordable for it costs less than what the local shops charged. The chlorine-free winterizing kits were easy to use and by the time spring came, our pool was in great condition.

The best thing is my wife is enjoying the pool again without the irritation caused by chlorine. She has continued doing the exercises recommended by her physician each day, which has led to a better quality of life all around.

Check out 1800pools.com for quality pool chemicals. They also offer above ground and below ground swimming pools, pool equipment, cleaners, pumps and filters that you need to keep your pool in the best shape possible.
