When it comes to having more lighting in the home, homeowners simply rush to the electricians to do that for them. However, some tasks are so easy and simple that they don’t require an electricians degree or certificate. Whereas, following some preventative measures can help you in completing the process easily. Similar is the case with the electric light box installation.

Consider the points mentioned below if you have decided to install the electric light box by yourself. Moreover, when installing the light box of your own, you will need some of the basic tools/materials to help you on your way. In fact, the things that you will need are a drill machine, wire stripper and 2 boards of 2-by-4-by-14-inches.

First of all, turn off the electricity from the main electrical breaker. Locate and mark the place on the ceiling where you want to install the electric box. Accurately measure the box and draw its dimensions over the ceiling. Cut the dimensions using a keyhole saw and fit the box therein.

Next, climb up to the attic and drill the hole. Install two 2 by 4 inch board using the drywall screws between the ceiling joist on either side of the hole.

Now, you need to install the two boxes each of dimensions 2 by 4 inch into the attic. For that just go up to the attic using a ladder. Fix the boards with the drywall screws. These tightly hold the boards into the ceiling.

Pull out some wire length from the roof. Further, use wire stripper to strip off the insulation from the wire and fix the lighting fixture as instructed by the manufacturer.

At last, it is required to make the connections between the electric panel and the wire reached up to it. Complete the process of light box installation by covering the electric panel. You are now safe to turn on the electricity.

The only thing that needs attention other than the human safety is, since the electrical breakers are proprietary therefore, they must match the make of the electrical panel box.
