Treating Acne On Dark Skin

Lots of folks think that if you are lucky enough to be born in a warm Mediterranean like country, then you are blessed with perfect skin and never have to worry about acne or roscae. This is simply false.

While a dark pigmentation may shield redness and other more obvious skin defects that are very noticeable on pale skin people, the underlying problem and skin damage is still there.

When it comes to treating acne, your skin tone and color has no importance whatsoever. Whats is important is getting suitable treatment for your specific type of acne.

White people have to be careful out in the sun as their skin will burn while someone with darker skin doesn’t have to worry about it as much because their skin will not burn.

Sun block should be used no matter how dark or fair your skin is. Lots of acne medications make your skin even more sensitive to sun. The minimum factor sun block you should use is factor 15.

A form of acne known as Pomade acne can only effect those of African Heritage. This is caused by the oil based hair products used to straighten their hair. Care should be taken when using these products to only apply on hair and hairline and not on facial skin.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is an acne related skin condition that only effects dark skin people. This is only a temporary condition which causes the darkening of the skin after an acne break out.

You should be sure to visit your dermatologist no matter what your skin color. Getting advice on diet and medications from a trained professional will save you tons of time and money.
