Which Format For Watching Movies

By Matt Thames

For most people finding a new television is not too difficult, you just need to know what size you want. All of them have fantastic pictures now so it really doesn’t matter which type you get. But you will have to put some thought into the components to go with the TV. Whether you download your movies or watch from a disc you will get fantastic sound and picture.

But if you are going to use a disc, which one are you going to use? You know that you have two choices. There was a third option a while back, but HD-DVD just never caught on. People weren’t sure about having a third option. So the third option of HD-DVD fell by the wayside. What you end up with is a choice between DVD and Blu-ray, but if you choose Blu-ray, you still get the DVD option. Most people still have all their DVD’s so it is nice to have the option to keep all of your old movies.

Choosing DVDs will give you a great picture with good sound so it’s fine, but to take real advantage of the capabilities of your new TV moving up to a Blu-ray is what you want to do. Using the Blu-ray to watch movies is similar to what it was like to watch DVD’s after watching tapes on VCR. The increase of clarity is astounding, it will seem as if you are seeing it all anew.

You just have to be sure to hook everything the right way. If you don’t use the right kinds of cables, you won’t get all the advantages that your TV has to offer. You need to move away from the component cables that have been the normal way of hooking components up for the past twenty years and step up to HDMI cables. It is a big and strong enough cable to get all of the information from the component to the television.

Think of the difference between the cables as the same as the difference between dial up internet and high speed internet. It’s all a matter of getting the information through the wires as quick as possible. If you don’t have the right cable, everything will get clogged up.

Take a few moments to look at the fantastic inventory for home theater at and allow their representatives to assist you if you have questions. Their inventory will have what you need, if you’re looking for wall mounts they have them. If you have an HDTV and are preparing to hook up a few systems, will enable you to find HDMI cables.
