Why I Love Being An American

By Vidette Vanderweide

This 4th of July marks a special day in American history. We take the time to celebrate our great nation and really stop, if only for a day, to appreciate what we’ve been given. Unfortunately, as of late, our world has been saturated with the challenges our nation is facing…i.e. an economic crisis, the largest environmental disaster in history, natural disasters, etc. I ask for the 4th of July weekend, we shut it all off. Don’t allow it into our minds and focus on what we have available to us.

Our friends, family and neighbors are losing their homes, their jobs and losing faith, altogether. What we have to stop and remember is what this great country was founded on, Free Enterprise! We have the ability to hold our futures in our hands. We have opportunities available to us that others in our world could only hope for! We, as Americans, control our own lives. We can depend on our own choices to control our futures, not others who decide whether or not we continue to work for a company or not.

Our ancestors built this great country on a dream. A dream to come to a new country, find employment and devote their lives to building a legacy for their future families. They risked life and limb to cross the ocean for months at a time for a glimmer of hope. That risk paid off as our country is now the most powerful country in the world even in our weakest moment.

Fast forward 234 years to our present time. Times have changed, of course and we should all be glad they have. Yes, our country has had it’s challenges and continues to, but what life isn’t without its challenges? The days of working for a company for 40 years are over. We now have the ability to take control of our lives, our incomes, and our futures and venture into FREE ENTERPRISE. When Americans decide to take advantage of the opportunities that our ancestors fought so hard to build, many of our current challenges will be resolved. Our citizens will be earning again, which means they will be buying, which means our economy will start to right itself. These opportunities are not normal, they are ‘outside the box’ and different from what we have been engrained to think is ‘normal.’ All that said, isn’t that where we need to be right now? Thinking outside the box, keeping an open mind? Absolutely!

Network marketing or MLM, as it is also called, has become a viable profession to change individual’s financial futures. Powerful businessmen like Warren Buffett, Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki are sound supporters of our industry. Network marketing can and will be the answer for more struggling Americans in the upcoming years.

While enjoying barbeques, fireworks and family, I will certainly be giving thanks for my country. To my great-grandparents who set this whole thing in motion for my family. I have opportunities now because of the sacrifices they made. We are a challenged country right now, however, I have no doubts that we will turn this thing around. We are resilient, powerful people. We will start to make our own decisions and choices and the United States will be back to normal!
