A Written Account Of A Backpacker’s Journeys

Looking for some fun? Whatever you do, Don't Click Here!

When you are tired of the seemingly endless work, just go backpacking and commune with nature. Along the way, there are many interesting things that backpackers can observe but are seldom recorded. The best way to prevent this is to keep a backpacking journal for your adventures.

Backpacking Journals

Is there anything noteworthy that happened during your last backpacking adventure? Can you recall of anything that caught your attention? Now think about the first time you ever went backpacking. You remember the places you went through and the people you met, the trails and the scenery, and what else? The experiences you’ve forgotten are lost to time. A pity that you failed to make any record of your backpacking experiences.

People have for a long time kept records of their experiences and observations. Of course, Anne Frank’s Diary is the best example. Anne Frank recorded her thoughts and observation while hiding from the Nazis for two years. While your backpacking experiences better be more lighthearted, keeping a journal will let you remember them as the years pass.

The features and qualities of a backpacking diary are enumerated below. It must be small enough not to take too much of the valuable space in your backpack. Keep it in a protective covering to avoid water damage, stains and scratches. Next, there should be sufficient blank spaces for writing. Last, make a list of subjects that you must keep a record of which should serve as your reference. The subjects of interest are:

Who you went backpacking with,

Where you backpacked and if you enjoyed it,

The people you made contact with and the details,

The geography and the climate at that time of the year,

The roads taken and your farthest reaches, and

Any unique things that occurred while backpacking.

Your journal must have ample and detailed information about:

Contact information for other backpackers and people you met,

Enough detail to provide you or a friend with a guide if you backpack the location a second time.

The highlights of your journey for reminiscing.

An interesting written account of experiences for future reading.

To get the most out of your backpacking journal, you should write in it during backpacking breaks or immediately after. Every trip is special, even if you just go out for a weekend.

Backpacking is a great way to commune with nature. Make sure to preserve the experience.
