The formation of oil cartel in running all the matters pertaining to crude and refined petroleum products has been a success story in the business world at large. The reasons for its formation and contribution are far much better achieved the intended reasons and target points as a whole.

One of the challenges is the market stability. This has a negative impact in trying to harmonize the world market.

Petroleum products face a negative publicity from the various environmental organizations due to the effects and excess remittance of the impurities in the environment we live in. In regard to this, stiff competition is being offered from makers of environmental friendly products that do not pollute the universe. They include; wind energy, solar energy, hydro and geothermal energy. These have turned out to be the biggest threats to this large global industry at large.

Of all these, making sure of a co-existence between member countries is so much essential. Problems of competition may arise which would have a negative image and impact on other countries not in the conflict. Here, it comes in as a mediator and act as the sole owner in out sourcing for the unexplored markets.

The need for this cartel has been of great benefit to the whole world. Although there may be a few misunderstanding here and there, the power and the laid down guidelines have contributed positively in ensuring a peaceful co-existence and a steady supply of oil for domestic and industrial use.
