Ideas When Looking For The Best Dog Breed

By Mickey Shore

Have you always wanted to own a dog but never knew which breed was right for you? Small breeds are wonderful for those who live in small homes and want a pet that’s easy to carry. If space isn’t an issue for you and you want a more substantial dog, than large breeds are the way to go.

If you are interested in owning a large dog, here are a few suggestions to help you pick the one that’s right for you and your family.

Forget everything you’ve heard about Rottweilers. They are a big breed with an even bigger reputation for being fierce. They can be good watch dogs but they are also loving and loyal pets. With the correct training, Rottweilers make great pets and can be very gentle.

If you’re looking for a watchdog you could do no better than to buy a German Shepherd. This breed is athletic and energetic. Once trained, they make suitable pets for many families who have big yards and lots of time to spend with them.

German Shepherds can be good with kids and are protective of their owner’s. They grow to be around 100 pounds so, they will require space to run and a home that can accommodate them.

A lesser known but equally enjoyable dog is the Vizsla. They are sweet, loving dogs that enjoy play and family. They live about 12 to 15 years old, which is unusual for a large breed. Vizsla’s are friendly, fun-loving and appropriate for households with young children.

When it comes to large breeds, the Dog de Bordeaux or French Mastiff is one of the biggest out there, but along with their size comes an equally big heart. The French Mastiff is sweet in personality and appearance. They have lovable faces and are pleasant with children.

You’ll find that the French Mastiff is much gentler than the bulldog and require less clean up, as well. They don’t shed, so there’s no annoying hair to clean up. Their main drawback is a tendency to drool.

Many people find they enjoy having a large breed dog. They prefer their substantial size and typical good nature. If you are interested in buying large dog there are many wonderful breeds available.
