Benefits Of A Housecall Veterinarian

By Ben Smith

There isn’t a pet owner around who enjoys the task of taking their beloved pet to the vet. Just the act of taking your animal from your home stresses him out completely. Taking your animal to the vet is just as stressful for you, too. The whole experience is miserable for the both of you. It’s not always avoidable, though. Is there anything else you could do?

Have you thought about finding a vet who makes veterinarian house calls?

A housecall veterinarian has the advantage of offering many conveniences to pet owners while still providing the same level of service that a traditional animal hospital does. Having one come to your home eliminates transportation stress and waiting room anxiety experienced by many pets in a trip to a veterinarian’s office. Your pet will be in a comfortable setting, and be much happier for it. A mobile veterinarian housecall is also the ideal way to have multiple pets receive their veterinary care without having to make multiple trips to a clinic. This is ideal if you have several pets, as you won’t have to worry about transporting them all yourself.

In addition to the benefits for your pet, a housecall vet may make more sense for many owners. Since you won’t have to gather up your pets, drive to the clinic, wait to see the veterinarian and drive back home, there is less time wasted for you. You’ll have much greater freedom in scheduling appointments with a housecall veterinarian. Appointments are scheduled so that you and your pets will receive all of the time and attention they need from the vet. You won’t have to contend with the hurried atmosphere of the veterinarian’s clinic.

A housecall vet can get a much more accurate picture of your pet’s condition when he is examined in his own environment. Sometimes these symptoms can be either masked or aggravated by stress. You’ll also be preventing exposure to any diseases that could be floating around in an animal clinic. This is very important in the case of very old or very young animals. Any animal with a weakened immune system is vulnerable and should be cared for at home when possible.

The next time your lone pet or brood of animals needs a veterinarian, make it a housecall vet. Not only will your pet get great treatment, he won’t have to leave his home to receive it!
