Teach an old dog new tricks

By Robert Thomson

Looking for some fun? Whatever you do, Don't Click Here!

So youve had a dog for quite some time, youve taught it some of the basics like potty training etc. But did you think about the fact that perhaps you need to start teaching your dog some new activities as well? Thats exactly what this article is about.

One of the first things that you need to do is to decide on which kind of trick youll be teaching your old dog, there are quite a few out there, you know the regulars, sit, stand, rollover and stay still.

There are more then a few methods of teaching your old dog these tricks, the simplest of which is to use the treat method. You simply need to use a doggy treat and point your dog in the right direction by making him/her follow the treat in your hand.

For example you can take the doggy treat wave it in front of the dog and once youve gotten his or her attention simple move in the direction or the way you want the dog to move, it wont take long and very soon the dog will start following the commands.

Other then that if you have an obedient dog, then itll make life a lot easier, the main point being that youll find it a lot more easier for the dog to follow your commands easily. Just keep this in mind that you dont want to exhaust your dog, remember the older the dog is the more itll take time to make it learn the tricks, but you have to be persistent about it.

Apart from that I wish you good luck in teaching your old dog some new tricks, and trust me it wont be that hard to do that as long as you follow the above mentioned tricks.
