Using Twitter for Business: A Marketing Firm for the Dogs
By Jim Vacey
Should a pet store have to employ a Facebook or Twitter for business? What would they do with it? Would a pet store need a marketing firm to advertise their services? A pet store is just like any pet supply right? Why employ a marketing firm to manage your pet store advertising? It turns out there is more to a pet store than just doggie indulgences.
Everyone needs a friend and sometimes the best friend we could ever ask for can be found in your local pet store. I have been to hundreds of pet stores across the island and I have yet to find the best friend I have always required. I have come close a couple of times but the salamander and the ferret didn’t quite measure up to my values of friendship. If there was a marketing firm handling the pet store’s Twitter for business purposes, I could have found a buddy by now.
Pet stores, I feel, should be using a marketing firm to broadcast the types of animals they carry and the specials they might have for the week. If they used Twitter for business reasons and tweeted constantly that they have a rare selection of birds or snake species then I wouldn’t have to drive all over creation.
If the regional pet stores tweeted about their selections I could easily send friends in search of a dog, cat, gerbil or orangutan. A marketing firm is designed to signal the masses of the special deals that a company has to offer. Wouldn’t a pet store want to stand out among all of the other pet stores? How else is a pet store going to contend against the other pet store that uses a Twitter for business?
After a while of searching, I finally located the friend of my dreams. His name is Larry and he is a Beetle. Low upholding which what a Twitter for business should be. A marketing firm handled this pet store’s social media site and there was little for the pet store to do but just vend me my friend Larry. Thank you marketing firm!
