Here Is One I Learned For Selling My Personal Property Fast
By Leo Kingston
When tenants move out of one of my rental houses and I think it’s time to sell, I’d be frustrated if I didn’t know how to sell my house myself. More than likely I would just call a real estate agent to handle it. However, I’ve developed a system over the years that works for me, and I this article I’m going to share some ideas with you. I’ve talked to a lot of people who told me that my ideas worked well for them, too. Let’s put it this way, I learned how to sell my house the hard way, and you can save a lot of hard lessons by reading what I have to share.
First, just walk right outside your front door, walk out to the sidewalk or street, and then turn around and face your residence. OK, I know this sounds really strange, but you’ll see my point in a minute. Stand there for a whole minute, looking carefully at your house. Now, look at your house as though you’ve never seen it before. Yes, I know it’s tough, but it’s also important.
You have to try and see your private home as other people see it. Buyers won’t have any idea how much you’ve repaired and improved the place, all they are interested in is what they actually see before their very eyes. And the most important moment is the first moment, when they get their first impression. Like it or not the first impression your house makes on buyers is likely to be the one they never forget. First impressions create a feeling that turns them on or turns them off, it’s that simple. As the seller, your job is to re-create the feeling you got, ‘way back when you first saw your house.
So, how is it possible to re-create that feeling for yourself and also for new buyers? Is it a trick? No, it is simply cultivating the ability to see your house in a fresh, new way. You have to set aside your familiarity with it to see it as other people see it. Take some mental notes while you’re outside, just standing there and staring at your house.
Now, stroll back up the sidewalk and into your house. Then, stop again when you step inside. Look around at the entry way and make more mental notes of your first impression of the interior of the house. Be sure to notice what you hear and what you smell as well, not just what you see. Take time to notice the little things will help you know how to sell your house, how to prepare it for new buyers, and set them up to fall in love with it, just like you did once upon a time.
