Moving My Cats to NYC
By Laura Hawn
I searched and searched through apartments in the NYC area for one that would accept my two cats. It seemed like I wasn’t ever going to find one! Apartment after apartment said “NO PETS!” and this left me with a dilemma. I was not going to move without my cats, they are part of my family!
So finally I asked for help. I have got many friends in NYC, and a couple of them have pets. So I asked them if their apartment buildings had any apartments available. Sadly, they didn’t; but my pals knew exactly what to look for to find a studio that would accept pets. So they helped me look till I found one.
Finally, I had found the perfect spot for me and my two cats. The pet deposit and pet rent were a bit high, but I was willing to pay any price to be able to keep my cats with me. After I’d found the ideal loft, I just had to find some NYC movers to get me and my cats and my things there safely.
I opened up my laptop and did a search for “movers NYC,” to try to find a good moving company to help me out. I needed to find one that wasn’t too costly and had a place to store some of my things, too. There was no way all of the furniture from my three thousand square foot house was going to fit in my nine hundred square foot loft. Fortunately, I found one very quickly. I got an estimate right online, and then had them come out the next day.
They were very professional! My cats were running around crazy until I could catch them, and the movers managed to walk around them and not step on them or hurt them while they were working. Once the cats were out of the way, the movers said that they could put them in the front of the moving van with me if I wished, which I did. I was quite happy with the moving company; they did not damage any of my stuff, they knew that my cats were like family to me, and they got me moved into my new place extremely fast, putting the additional stuff neatly in storage. If I need to move again, I’ll use them, no doubt in my mind.
