Now, I know you’re likely to think that selling a home for the best price must involve some advanced jedi-mind tricks, but it really doesn’t. The sad truth is that most people fail to pull the best possible price out of the home they’re selling due to very basic and embarrassingly simple errors. Very few people get a sub-optimal price because they didn’t do something advanced. It’s always the basics my friends.

There is one thing that screws up more people selling a home than anything else. This one thing happens to be the lack of patience. It is extremely normal for a human being to just uncomfortable things over and done with. And in some areas of life this is a good trait to have. When selling your home, this is catastrophic, and can result in you severely underselling your home.

You have to be patient and make strict rules for yourself. Write down on a piece of paper what the best deal you can get is, and the vow to not sell until you get this price met.

Another common and basic step that most sellers miss is to not get a realtor. Yes, it’s common sense, and yes you know you’ll get a better deal if an expert helps you with the process – but a lot of people don’t. Why does this happen? Again, the reason seems to be impatience and not having the willingness to find a good realtor. They just want to hurry the process and get rid of the home as fast as possible.

Another embarrassing thing that sellers do is that they befriend the buyer. This may sound cute and make you feel fuzzy on the short term, but you will regret it in the long-term. You will never see this person after you sell that home. Don’t let their charm rule over and make you sell your home for less than it’s worth.
