Ways to Begin Finding Movers in New York City
By Laura Hawn
When you start trying to find movers NYC, you will feel rather overwhelmed at the wide variety of decisions by simply looking in your local Yellow Pages telephone book, paper, or other physical listing column. In truth, there are really a lot more simplistic methods to find NYC movers without needing to call each moving company in NYC one at a time.
Firstly, start by looking online for NYC moving firms. You can check these companies out by looking at the Better Business Bureau’s internet site and/or reading online reviews about these corporations. You might even be able to register for a Hoover’s account, which will allow you to take a look at far more fine details about the moving firms in your area.
You can see who actually owns the company, that it is a legit business in good standing and it is all of the things it claims to be in whatever ad you saw or read. If you’re pleased with the reviews and the Better Business Bureau’s site report and the Hoover’s or other investigative report you have read, then you can move forward to creating a spreadsheet to maintain a record of what moving corporations you are most interested in.
Call the moving corporations that you have listed in your spreadsheet and tell them if you have any especially heavy furniture that has to be moved, such a piano or organ, which could significantly change the cost of your move. You’ll then need to also let the movers know if you are moving cars or anything that is particularly oddly shaped or will need extra care.
Once the mover has all this information, they are usually able to offer you an immediate quote. In fact, many web sites will enable you to enter this information right on their website and then the moving company will either supply you with an instant quote or they will call you with an appraisal so that you can then add this information to your comparison spreadsheet, too.
