A sport in which two players fight each other in a six sided ring is known as MMA or Mixed Martial Arts. Karate, Muay Thai, Boxing and a number of other techniques are used in MMA. Players can use both hands and the legs for a fight as MMA is a full contact fight sport. Hitting and grabbing the opponent are some methods that players use in a fight. MMA is a sport that is not played in the Olympics and never will. Before MMA was considered dangerous and its result was death of the players and but not anymore. Due to the implementation of rules by the UFC, this sport is now more popular and is watched by many people. These days MMA is an equal level with both wrestling and boxing. Due to the popularity of the sport it has become a business of a pay per view.

One must use mma gloves during their fights to be protected and to protect others players too. Two players fighting must follow a certain strict rules. Rules including both the weight and the equipment is overseen. Other than the usage of gloves there is no other equipment for the other players. For grappling players use gloves with finger holes in them. Bruises can be avoided using these gloves. To prevent a player from breaking his hand a special tape is used to wrap it around the hand. Gloves of different weight are used during a fight. Some are lighter and some are more heavy. There are two categories of gloves concerning weights:

1. Professional players uses 4oz gloves during a fight.

2. To protect their fist amateur players use a 6 oz gloves.

Many issues have been faced concerning safety of gloves. Players cannot hit on the head unlike boxing as it may cause heavy damage. It is a volition by a player to hit on the head in a MMA fight, whereas in boxing it is legal. This can break the hand or fist of the player which is very dangerous. Mma gloves are the basic requirement to avoid injuries. It is revealed through the researches that small gloves never result in big problems, the actual problem arises because of big gloves which result in big injuries. Brain injuries and eye injuries are often seen because of these big gloves. Boxers never hit the competitors on the face or brain as because of no availability of gloves long term fractures were expected. 4oz gloves are for professionals and 6oz are for amateur and these are the only two types of mma gloves. To increase the protection and lesser the injuries 6oz are used by the amateurs. To avoid dangerous injuries the amateurs must wear these gloves throughout learning process.
