Enjoy The Wildlife While Camping

By Rebecca Thompson

You do not have to be a spy or FBI agent to use binoculars. Binoculars are a marvelous invention and are available to all of us to explore the areas that we cannot see with naked eye. You will find them useful, especially while camping and watching a football match from the last row in a big stadium. But, if you go out to camp, you need binoculars that can work during night as well. Children will like the night vision enabled binoculars a lot, as it gives them the magical capability to see things at distance in dark. When my child was using binoculars at night, he asked me, “why is the image in green colour”? I did not know what to answer. But, later I found that the image is placed on a phosphorous screen instead of showing it directly to our eyes. Thus the images appear as green coloured.

Camping is not the only purpose for which a night-vision enabled binoculars are used. Any task which has to be performed in low light, such as night fishing, night boating, surveillance of your property, finds the binoculars useful. Also, there is no age barrier with binoculars, as it is not a dangerous equipment and children can also use the binoculars easily, but, except the visually challenged. The performance of the night vision binoculars depends on the amount of light that is available. When you are out camping, you cannot determine how much light there is going to be on a particular night. Hence, it is good to buy the best binoculars. There are different binoculars that provide different performance distinguished by their generations (1st, 2nd and 3rd). The 3rd generation binoculars are the best among the lot. The range of binoculars depends on the gain, resolution and magnification. But, compared to ordinary day binoculars the night-vision binoculars’ range is not extended.

A 1st generation night vision enabled binoculars will need a lot of light (a full moon) to see things during night in the absence of artificial light. The best among the lot is the 3rd generation binoculars that can show the images to you clearly even with a little light coming from the farthest starts. Other criteria that you should look into are the resolution, magnification and gain aspects of binoculars. The night-vision binoculars range is not expandable. The image deteriorates rapidly over a distance and you will not be able to see clearly in dark.

And the binoculars could be mounted on a headgear to keep your hands free. This could be useful, if you are boating during night. A cheaper option for you is to buy a night vision monocular which is small in size and is much cheaper compared to binoculars. But, there is no lack of features compared to binoculars. So, set out and buy a monocular / binocular that suits your needs.

Camping can be made more enjoyable, if you bring the best equipment with you. To be sure, always buy those equipment that have the best quality as possible.
