Fantasy Football Is Here To Stay
Fantasy and other related “pick-em” office pool competitions have become a major component of office life. These activities serve as a much needed distraction from the normal woes of life and offer a solution to the monotony of cubicle boredom. The introduction of these games, have changed the act of watching a football games from a mere spectator’s sport to an interactive experience enjoyed by millions of fans.
There are limitless options to choose from each offering unique challenge levels. The most challenging of all is the tradition fantasy football league, in which players decide which professional players are most likely to perform well for that particular week. These decisions have spawned countless television specials, web pages, and online forums.
In recent years, a more watered-down approach to fantasy football has emerged in popularity. Pick-em competitions offer a much less strenuous approach to increasing the excitement of watching football games. Participants simply select the teams that they believe will win, opposed to attempting to predict the performance of individual players. Typically the success rate of each participant provides them with a score value, which can be used to compare against the success of their friends and family.
The winners of these competitions are typically awarded monetary compensation, however the greatest motivation for getting into these challenges is personal pride and the chance to “trash talk” to their competitors. Nothing beats standing around the water cooler on Monday mornings and talking about the person with the least win’s that week.
No matter what your strategy may be; from picking the nicest uniforms, coolest mascot, or something actually related to the outcome of the game, fantasy football is here to stay.
