Five Things To Do In Arlington During Your Super Bowl XLV Stay

By Landry Aikman

Those who have already booked their Super Bowl XLV travel packages for the forthcoming game to be played in Arlington will be pleased to know that there are lots of great things to do in this exciting city. With a population of almost 400,000 it is the seventh biggest city in Texas, and the 49th biggest city in the USA. This article will highlight five of the greatest visitor hotspots.

The Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is a massive theme park guaranteed to give you monstrous aquatic thrills and spills. The latest addition is a water adventure called Mega Wedgie. The slide is 83 feet wide and four stories high. With a feeling of ‘zero gravity’, passengers are propelled down the slide at 23 miles an hour with spray jets. For small kids, there’s just as much fun on the Hooks Lagoon rides, while older kids and adults will also love the all-time favorite, Der Stuka.

If you are traveling with a big family, perhaps the action on offer at the Randol Mill Family Aquatic center will suit you better. Every age-group is catered for at this interactive water park. It has a variety of pools, a current channel, a shallow water play area, an exciting water slide and vortex pools. Enjoy a picnic or a barbecue at one of the designated sites.

It also has shower facilities, two lovely pavilions and you can help yourself to deck furniture. The pools can be hired for family days and other gatherings which is great for visitors in large groups. While you are having fun in your own pool, lifeguards are there to make sure everyone is safe. Bookings for private pools must be made 72 hours before.

For an evening of the best live Country and Western music, you can catch Johnnie Hall’s Country Music Revue. It takes place once a week in the Arlington Music Hall. The event began during 1974 when former singer, musician and songwriter, Johnnie High, purchased an old movie house and converted it into a music hall. It can accommodate an audience of 1200.

Ever since, the Saturday night shows have been sell-outs. They provide great Country and Western entertainment for 8 to 80 year-olds. The performers include eight singers, a group of back-up singers and a fantastic band of professional musicians. Every month, at least 20 new performers are introduced. Fans of country music from every corner of the globe regularly attend the shows.

Tenpin bowling, one of America’s most popular sports, has a fascinating history spanning more than 5,000 years. This is all encompassed at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. You can see many interesting artifacts and learn how the sport dates back to the Ancient Egyptians. This amazing museum will be appreciated even by those who are not tenpin enthusiasts.

A tour of the amazing Cowboys Stadium should form part of all Super Bowl XLV travel packages. It is the official home of the Dallas Cowboys and is the world’s largest domed stadium. You will be blown away when you see the size of the massive high definition television screen. Affectionately called ‘Jerry-Tron’, its area is an incredible 11,520 square feet. It is the biggest of its kind in the world.
