The Football Career Story of Peyton Manning

The National Football League (NFL) and Indianapolis Colts were given the chance to get to know the most talented player in the person of Peyton Manning, who was born in 1976. His career has stared with the Isidore Newman High School football team in New Orleans during the early 1990s. They had won 34 times and had 5 losses in three years.

Peyton continued his football career in 1995 with the University of Tennessee Volunteers. As a freshman in such team, he was positioned as the third – quarterback. During one particular game, the other quarterbacks were injured and this forced Manning to take the lead quarterback position and lead the Vols to a win. Since then, he played as the starting quarterback.

The Volunteers were brought by Peyton Manning into the Citrus Bowl in 1996 and defeated the Northwestern. In the year 2007, he ended his football career in college after leading the Vols to the SEC Championship. Peyton Manning’s #16 UT Vols jersey retired in 2005.

With an award winning and record breaking college career, he was chosen as the number one pick in 1998. Peyton Manning soared high in the NFL fields and launched with 5 rookie records. By 2003, this american quarterback held in his hands his very first most valuable player award and followed by a second in 2004.

During the 2006 Super Bowl, Peyton Manning led the Colts to a great win over the Chicago Bears and was awarded as the MVP. He had received the award twice again in 2008 and 2009. During the latter year, he had brought he Colts to fight with the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl.

In 2011, Manning had neck surgery which left him out for the entire season. The Colts finished the 2011 season with only 2 wins; this was the first time since 1998 that the Colts didn’t win at least 10 games.

As of 2011, Peyton Manning career statistics include a total of 7,210 passes thrown with 64.9 percent of them being complete for a total of 54,828 yards. Manning was the fastest quarterback to reach a total of 50,000 passing yards. Of those, 398 were touchdown passes and only 198 interceptions. Manning is the NFLs highest paid athlete.
