If reading makes you a better person, will reading also make you a better golfer? After all, surely there must be a reason why golf books are still around. Your typical golf book would contain basic information, trivia and tips on how one can enhance one’s game on the greens hence yes- reading a golf book could make you a better golfer.

Then again, there are those who insist that the only way to learn golf is to have a mentor. The problem is, these mentors or rather, private instructors do not come cheap. You could learn from your friends and associates, but there is also a chance that they might teach you wrong techniques.

In actuality, the golf book is such an important commodity that it has now been converted to e-books which are found on the Internet. We will now run through some basic tips on what to look out for in a decent golf book.

The beginning of a golf book should detail the basics of golf. The middle of a golf book should talk about tips on how to improve and strengthen your basics. The third part of a golf book should then review strategies on how one can now use the above information to triumph on the golf course.

Under the first section, the golf book should already be advising the reader on fundamentals such as choosing the right golf club and other necessary golfing equipment. In the second section, it should also expound on the four elements of a perfect golf swing, i.e. hitting with individual clubs, the driver, the short game clubs and the irons. Putting during the short game is actually very critical for the game, and the golf book should inform you on how one can bypass that zone.

The book should also list down special techniques and strokes one can use on the golf range. By the end of the book, one should already know how to keep the golf ball low or high as well as understand how one can draw or fade the ball. One should also be familiar with how you can handle hard lies.

Each decent golf book should also have a chapter on how one can improve their golf stroke. A great golf book will take it one step further and teach you how you can utilize the golf swing plane on the game. Finally, a golf book would also enable the player to think and plot on how they can win the game with the least number of strokes.

The ideal golf book needs to also have plenty of pictures and diagrams to allow the reader to fully grasp the full concept of golfing. A newbie golfer would also find a terminology appendix at the end of the book extremely helpful. Furthermore, it never hurts to have plenty of footnote tips placed all over the book.

Basically, a golf book that helps you play better is a great book. We recommend that beginners start with simple books that contain basic information and simple terminology. The Simple Swing is an e-book that caters to both the amateurs and the seasoned golfers alike.
