Making Every Golf Putt Is Easy
All golfers use their putter more than any other club in their bag, no matter what their handicap. If you follow some simple instructions and think a bit differently you can “make” 100% of our putts no matter how far or close you are to the hole. This approach will not mean you sink every putt but if you follow the instructions you will make every putt.
“Making” every putt is simple, let me explain. To “make” every putt you simply need to decide the speed of the putt and also the line of the putt and hit the putt on the line and with the decided speed. If you do this and the ball goes in great, but if it does not then you have simply chosen the wrong speed or line but the putt is still good or “made”.
Here are the simple steps to making every putt.
1. Pick your line for the putt by studying the contours of the green.
3. Taking into account the distance from the hole and slope of the green decide on how hard you need to hit the ball.
3. Line up and address the ball and take a couple of practice swings keeping in mind how hard you need to hit the ball.
4. When you are ready, commit to the line and power and “make” the putt.
If you complete the steps above and you hit the ball on the chosen line with the right speed then this is a perfect putt and the putt is “made”. You have made the putt even if the ball does not go in the hole and you can confidently move onto the next hole or putt.
Great putting comes with confidence. Too many golfers get discouraged when good putts dont go in the hole. Changing your mind set on what is a “made” putt can allow you to keep your confidence with your putter even if the putts are not dropping.
