How To Pick The Correctly Fitted Motorcycle Helmets And Motorcycle Gloves
By Carol Murray
For some, there is nothing better than the freedom of the open road, on a motorbike. There are however always concerns which accompany the hobby, such as the rider’s vulnerability to the elements and the potential hazards involved. Motorcycle helmets and motorcycle gloves are therefore essential parts of the gear which any motorcyclist should invest in.
In an accident, a helmet is the one single component which may mean the difference between life and death. This is why ensuring that it fits properly is so important. It should be pulled apart slightly by means of the short side straps and then pulled down onto the head. It should not be able to slide onto the head or go on with ease but should fit firmly and securely on the head even when the rider’s head is moving.
Bikers normally feel as if their cheeks are being pushed inwards, which for some people, may feel cramped and overwhelming at first. If the wearer moves his/her head sideways, upwards and downwards, their skin should move with the helmet.
As with all types of gear, there are many different types of gloves. Most commonly, especially in parts of the world where the weather is cold, full fingered ones are recommended because the power of the elements should never be underestimated. These provide a good grip surface and warmth, to prevent the danger of developing frostbite on the fingers.
Most pairs are made of an outer leather covering. The inside of the glove is usually lined with a warm fabric, to seal the heat in, although their design differs according to the type of biking involved. A professional will be able to provide assistance with choosing the most appropriate pair.
When purchasing motorcycle helmets and motorcycle gloves, no expense should be spared. Although it is not always necessary to buy the most expensive gear available, it is always advisable to spend a significant amount on acquiring all the elements of the gear. Buying valuable protective gear should be made a priority for any biker who wishes to have safe, pleasant riding experiences.
