Party Favors Gives The Guests A Sign Of Appreciation For Coming

By Bennetta Elliott

Whether you are having a bridal shower, a wedding party or a baby shower, party favors should never be left out of your plans. Party favors is a term to indicate any gift given in the party for thanking those who attended, for providing additional fun and to serve as keepsakes for remembering that occasion.

Party favors may be distributed time and again during the course of the celebration or the host may schedule a specific time when all the gifts will be given out to the guests. The most conducive way to go about apportioning these gifts will really depend on the type of guests you are going to have and on the general ambiance of the party itself. Scheduling a favor-giving hour might be appropriate for more formal celebrations while giving out the favors from time to time will be appreciated by a more casual crowd.

Besides goodies and fun equipment, favors may also be memorabilia which can be kept and used by the recipient for many years.

Party favors ordinarily refer to gifts distributed by the host of the occasion. However in birthday parties and baby showers, there is usually an exchanging of presents between the host and the guests. On the extreme end, gifts are exchanged among the guests and the host in some parties.

The original conception of party favors denoted candy packed in expensive tin boxes studded with jewels. The first wedding favors were like that. Gifts were given by the wealthy to the guests attending their parties and those gifts stood for the wealth and distinction of the family throwing the party. Today, however, favors may be given for no better reason than to enhance the spirit of fun in a party.

Consequently, the most common-place objects may be used as party favors on the condition that they should be properly and interestingly packaged. The popularity of these gifts stems from the fact that the very trimmings of the package themselves can be enough reason for people to appreciate and be amused by a gift, whatever the box may contain. In a sense, favors may sometimes just be excuses to have something amusing and happy to talk about in a party.
