Sport enthusiasts can enjoy a lot of activities to wile their time during the off-season. Since they cannot watch a real game, they can opt to join fantasy baseball leagues. With these activities, fans can conjure up imaginary teams with their favorite players.

Fantasy baseball is just like the regular sport wherein the lineup of players gets to play against another team. The stark difference between the two is that the original game is that this is not done in a real stadium or field. It is imaginary and played based on real player’s statistics.

The two common rules format to choose from is the season and head to head. In a season format, the statistical data and ranking percentile is computed on the performance for the entire season. In head to head, the calculation of points is done after every game or at the end of a week.

Participants will need to know the different kinds of associations to belong to. There are those who are standard clubs wherein team owners get to choose players from national and American associations. There are also those that are American only and national only. Another association type is the keeper. Here, one gets to keep a certain number of players for a few seasons.

There are two types of drafting players. One is through auction bidding. This is usually done online. A team owner will place a player up for bid. Several participants can place an amount for their trade. The one who outbids the rest gets to keep the player. Snake drafting is done a day before the game starts.

Once you have established the rules format, club type and draft style, create a lineup. Some games change their lineups daily while other games have a weekly change. Keep track of the statistical data of the waiver wire. Know when to use these players to your advantage.

Experts advise that when joining fantasy baseball leagues for the first time, do not be afraid to try out different opponents for a trial game. Be sure to choose opponents wisely. Also, to be able to create a leveling field, participants need to be updated on his team’s statistics.
