Going to college is an expensive proposition, and to do it, you will probably need to make some sacrifices. Here are some ideas for raising money and freeing up cash for your college expenses.Sell stuff. That motor home or bass boat that you use maybe once a year can pay for a lot of college classes. If you have a second or a third car, consider selling one and maybe taking the bus more. You will be helping the environment, saving on a car payment and getting cash for college at the same time.

Use the old change in the bottle trick. By putting all of your loose change in a jar every day, you can accumulate money that could help buy that text book you need for class.Trim down your extra expenses, like cell phone plans or cable services. You don’t really need to post on Facebook 30 times a day. Basic cable still has a lot of channels to choose from, and besides, you need to make time for all of that homework.

Many may think that student loans is the best way to go. They are readily available, easy to get, and generally cover all of your student expenses. But remember, the do have to be paid back. Do you really want to mortgage your future career before you even get out of college?In reality, you may need to resort to student loans to make college possible, but there are ways that you can eliminate or at least minimize your dependence on borrowed money for school.

Grants are easy to deal with. Typically, you just fill out one on line application and you are set. Just make sure to fill it out on time, as early applicants tend to get more grant money that those who wait. And remember that you must re-apply each year.

Scholarships are a bit trickier, as they are privately funded and each has it’s own application process. Check with your school financial aid office for a list of programs that available through the college or university.You can also use an on line search engine to find scholarship programs that you may be eligible for.
