Courses Are Available For Practicing For Quantative Section Of GMAT!

By Michelle Conner

One of the largest segments of the GMAT is called the Quantitative section. It’s probably the one section of this qualifying exam that causes MBA students the most concern. The section adds up to 40% of their GMAT grade, and tests the student’s math capabilities. Their concern is many haven’t had to do any serious number crunching in years. Their jobs just didn’t require it.

While one doesn’t need a PhD in math to be a success in the business world, a person without the basic comprehension of math is also not going to get far at all. The Quantitative segment of the GMAT is geared accordingly. That should be remembered when one applies to an online school for a GMAT preparatory course load. If you need more information about online college, look on the internet.

This doesn’t mean the Quantitative segment is a cake walk. Because of this, when searching for online GMAT prep courses, one should look for course loads that provide programs and drills that will help students remember the economics, accounting and statistics courses they haven’t used since their sophomore year. Here are some other things to do when scouting out the right class:

Take Drills In Data Sufficiency – Data Sufficiency is more logic exercise than actual math. A major portion of the Quantitative section is discerning whether one has enough information to derive an answer rather than actually coming up with the answer. It’s also prone to be multiple choice. Make sure the course you take includes a number of problems in this area, and then drill on them until you grasp the concept.

Review Your Basic Math Again – Make sure your choice includes basic review of such fundamental business courses like accounting, economics and statistics. You’d be surprised how much you’d forgotten since you’d graduated from school. Again, make sure the school offers problems and drills to give the left side of your brain the proper exercise you need before taking the test.

Pick Up A Puzzle Book or Two – This is probably one of the few fun areas in all the prep work. It’s also a very serious recommendation. What many test takers really need is the ability to exercise those little gray cells on the left side of the brain. These puzzles are an excellent way to get them back in shape. Look at it this way; it’s a productive way to spend one’s lunch hour. There is an abundance of information about online business management degree on the web.

Take It Slow and Tailor To Your Needs – When it comes to math skills, one person’s strengths is another’s weakness. Discern your own plusses and negatives. From there, while you should not ignore what you’re good at, spend extra time on what doesn’t come naturally. Again, find drills and exercises within your course to help you in these areas. Your online course will undoubtedly have plenty of them.

Get the fundamentals down by signing up for a prep online course and you will have no issues with the Quantitative section of the GMAT, and a better chance to succeed with your online MBA program.
