By Mandy Mansow

Ever wanted to get into the journalism field, just didn’t have the time? Now you take online journalism classes to help you start your new career but on your own time. The flexible options offered by many universities can provide you online journalism classes that work.

Knowing your anticipated career before enrolling in any online journalism classes could save you money and the trouble of changing over your major. However, most campus and online journalism classes are grouped together for any degree in the field. Photojournalism, mass communications, public relations and broadcast journalism are all excellent choices.

When taking your online journalism classes to complete your degree you will also have to complete other courses first. Classes like humanities, psychology and history help shape your views and better prepare yourself for the world journalism.

Some common internet journalism classes you will most likely have to take when completing your degree are; mass communications, men and women in media, history of American news media, writing and reporting for ethics, and diversity and the media. Many journalism units are required for both minors and bachelor’s degrees.

Some universities may operate on a different scale but as a general rule of thumb, 80 completed credit hours will get you a major in journalism. Of those 80, 65 must be in liberal arts, sciences or humanities, and a minimum of 37 straight journalism hours are required. Complete your degree and get the job and pay you have always wanted. Online journalism classes can help you achieve your goal in a short amount of time. Plus, you go to class whenever you have time so the flexibility is a big key feature.
