Many people have a large repertoire of life quotes at their disposal for use at any appropriate time, and having the right quote at the right time can be very important. Stars embody the whole concept of the Universe, which translated is “one song”. Many countries have flags with stars on them and the stars usually depict the unity of states, provinces or territories under a single unifying leadership. The United States has fifty stars representing states, united under the leadership of the federal government. The unifying concept of stars has an inspirational, magical quality.

Astrology is founded on the study of stars and twelve inspirational constellations that are the birth-signs in daily horoscopes. No matter how skeptical one is about horoscopes, the birth-signs and corresponding personality traits appear to be significantly accurate in their description. Soothsayers and prophets of old relied heavily on star readings to foretell future events. Certainly, gazing into the heavens at night-time gives one an inspiring sense of timelessness. Many of the stars in the night sky are a large number of light years away, meaning that the light we see from them is ten,twenty or hundreds of light years old. Theoretically, if we could instantly transport ourselves onto such a star and gaze through a super, Hubble like, telescope at our planet earth, we would be witnessing history unfolding before our eyes.

Stars are featured in many romantic and inspirational song lyrics. “When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, anything your heart desires will come to you” is an old classic that has resonated with many of us over the years. Poets too are inspired to write about the glory of stars. To quote Lord Byron: “Ye stars! Which are the poetry of heaven”. He was not referring to movie stars, although one could conjecture on the significance of famous people being named “stars”.

Stars also bring to mind one magical starry night just over two thousand years ago, when a bright star appeared over a little stable in Bethlehem, and it seemed as though the heavens stooped down and kissed the earth, on that very first Christmas night.
