Liposuction is one of the most preferred cosmetic procedures nowadays. This operation, which is also called lipoplasty or simply lipo, is a comparatively easy way to lose fat. However, a lot of people frequently have misunderstandings about it, and have often abused this procedure. If you are planning on having liposuction, you must be in your ideal weight already even before getting the surgery. Learn more about the process before you said yes to it.

While others have wrongly labeled liposuction as a weight loss surgery, it is actually a cosmetic surgery procedure that redefines the body area curves, which have stubborn fat deposits. Lipo requires the suctioning of the fat out from those parts.

If you are aiming to lose 20 or 30 pounds, this operation is not for you. This does not extinguish your unwanted pounds. The fats that will be taken out may just be around 10 pounds at the most. A higher amount is also possible, but that would also mean bigger health danger. Therefore, liposuction is ideally done to patients who already are within their ideal weight but just have “problem” areas.

An ideal patient for liposuction is someone who doesn’t smoke, healthy, and has firm and good skin elasticity. Age doesn’t matter, true. But older patients may not attain the same outcome as younger ones who have firmer skin This is because once the fats have been sucked out, the skin, without good elasticity, may hang loose.

Before everything else, be reasonable with your expectation. Lipo doesn’t improve cellulite, but it just removes the fat deposits underneath it.

Recuperation period can be truly painful and will take around six months to finish. There will be swelling and bruising right away after the operation. The bruises may remain for months, while the swelling can be felt for weeks. Avoid strenuous and vigorous activities such as sports while you recuperate.

The outcome won’t be noticeable for a long time. It ordinarily takes around 3 months before the end product is seen. Also, be sure to have post-operation checkups with your doctor.

Liposuction is not a weight loss surgery but a contouring process. Always follow healthy eating habits before and after the surgery to achieve ultimate effect.
