The Fundamental Evidence of a Good Hypnotist
By John Sellars
Having taught Clinical Hypnosis globally for years , I have met plenty of great hypnotists. Also , I've met lots of people who, for all sort of reasons, simply don't look to be adequate of making it work for them. Good Hypnosis Training can make considerable difference.
There are some things about a great hypnotist that makes people need to spend some time in their company “they tend to be impassioned about their subject and that is contagious. They also appear to have a understanding of and a compassion for their fellow man “and that is most charming.
Hence what is the essential indicators of a good hypnotist?
Well, you can frequently see what they are not
A good hypnotist cannot be assertive or self-important, never threatening or authoritarian. They tend not be ‘closed ‘ or secretive folk and they do not hide their emotions.
And you can see what they are
These are people who ask folks to trust them perhaps folk whom they’ve only just met. They need your trust so that they can get to whatever memories or behaviors are worrying you and that asks that you let them in deep. And therefore the good hypnotist will be somebody that you are going to quickly feel comfortable with and feel you can trust.
Of course, you would not dream of letting a surgeon operate on you if you didn’t trust them. And so it is with the hypnotist, you allow them in often into the deepest areas of your psyche. Often, they delve into those areas which you’ll have never travelled yourself. So , they feel just like extremely honest folks and they have to be so.
They generally tend to be open “open-hearted if you like, not hiding their feelings. In fact , the great hypnotist’s conversation will be scattered with ‘I feel ‘, instead of ‘I think’. They work in the imaginal kingdom of the subconscious and that could be a realm of feeling.
You may expect that they may always speak in a slow, deep voice “this is very often not the case and is definitely not critical to be a great practitioner. For my part, I talk terribly fast when prompting hypnosis “for me, this is critical as I like to get extraordinarily deep hypnosis very fast. Your subconscious can keep up, irrespective of how fast somebody speaks.
When in the company of a good hypnotist, you may well pick up they are most observant. They read ‘ folk “not in an intrusive way but out of fascination. I regularly hear my students say that this work has taught them this capability and as that talent develops, their connection with other homo sapiens grows and deepens. Of course, this is an exceedingly rewarding side of this work for me.
But possibly the most striking quality of a really good hypnotist is their confidence. They ooze it. They require this level of confidence if the people they handle are to have confidence in them.
If they have the cape, staring eyes and goatee beard, they can still be a great hypnotist but the image isn’t altogether necessary. Nonetheless, thanks to Doctor. Franz Mesmer for starting the fashion in the 18th Century.
