What Is Meant By Reiki Chakras?

By Ingrid Lazell

The term Reiki Chakras refer to the seven energy centers in a human body located in a vertical straight line from the base of the spinal cord to the crown of one’s head. These chakras are whorls of energy, located in a person’s subtle within and are the energy receiving and transmitting centre for the same.

If we follow human anatomy, Reiki chakras are major nerve ganglia originating from the spinal cord and are associated to a number of important organs in a human’s body. If the seven Reiki chakras open and working well, they keep a person healthy physically and emotionally. But if there is any blockage or the energy is misdirected or imbalanced, an individual may face a number of problems physically as well as psychologically.

Reiki technique on the other hand is all about palm healing. Thus, when a chakra is blocked or the energy flow is not balanced, the Reiki technique is performed by a Reiki master on the diseased person in order to open or balance the chakra. Essentially Reiki involves the master receiving the infinite positive energy of the cosmos, acting as a conduit and directs and channelizes this energy through his palms in order to heal an over active or under active chakra of the diseased.

Let’s check where these Reiki chakras are placed in our body. Starting from the base/root chakra, all seven are placed in a vertical line upwards as the sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, the third eye and the crown of the head chakras. Each of these Reiki chakras are connected to some vital organ. The base or the root chakra is located at the bottom of the pelvis, at the last bone of the spinal cord and this chakra is connected to the organs of rectum, large intestine, leg bones, spine, kidney and adrenaline gland.

The second and third of the Reiki chakras are those of sacral and solar plexus chakras respectively. While the sacral chakra is all about the reproduction system of an individual, linked with the testicles, ovaries, urinary bladder and spleen, the solar plexus chakra is all about the metabolism system having under it the organs of pancreas, liver, stomach, gall bladder, and small intestine.

The fourth of the Reiki chakras is the central heart chakra in control of one’s heart and the entire circulatory system of the body. Hence, any blockage here affects the all important organ of the heart and is thereby linked to the arms, lower lungs, skin and the thymus gland. The throat chakra located at the base of one’s throat is directly linked to the thyroid gland and is thus responsible for the throat, upper lungs, jaw, as well as the vocal cords. Indirectly it may also affect the digestive system as well.

The two final Reiki chakras are those of the third eye, located between one’s eye brows and the ultimate crown of the head one, which though not directly linked to any physical organ, but is the final seat of spiritual power and thus corresponds to the person’s whole being. The highly important third eye chakra is related to the face, eyes, nose and most importantly the brain and the pituitary gland.

Apart from the physical aspects, the Reiki chakras are also essential for a person’s emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing. While the base chakra is linked to a persons roots or existence, the sacral and the solar plexus chakras stand for his relations with others and his own personal power. Thereafter, the heart chakra is connected to the emotions, the throat chakra linked his expression, creativity and communication, the third eye chakra that allows the working of mans intuition, meditation capability and visualization, and lastly the crown of the head chakra, which shows the road to eternal peace through spiritual wisdom.
