Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do. The strategy of kicking the process of kicking the butt can become a lot simpler if you attempt to deviate your attention from smoking. Here are some things that you can do rather than smoking that will help you keep your intelligence off the habit.

Read a book. This is the simplest thing that you can do. Make sure that you read engaging books or thrillers. Philosophical books will not be able to hold your attention for a long time. If you’re not extraordinarily keen on reading books, then you may pick up magazine or newspapers.

Another thing that you can do is to take a walk. Walking helps the flow of oxygen in the body and this in turn counters any urge for smoking. If you have decided to go for a walk, guarantee that you walk in natural environment. The more greenery you have around, better it is for you. The cause of this is that the natural environment with its greenery causes you feel relaxed and calm. It soothes your senses and so your body and mind experience relaxation.

Another effective distracter is playing games like that of crossword. Crossword is a puzzle game and hence to unravel it, mind is absolutely engrossed. The game proves extremely favorable in binding your attention. More focused you are on the game; more is the possibility that you will forget smoking a cigarette.

Try and sleep over your smoking habit. Well it simply means that whenever you feel the need to smoke, try taking a sleep. If you are able to sleep at such a time, your cravings will automatically mellow down. If you find it tricky to sleep, then try reading a very uninteresting book. This will bore you and will thereby help you sleep.

got craving for smoking alone? Remember that your buddy is just a telephone call away. Simply call your buddy and you are all set to be engrossed in the chit-chats. The more interesting the subject of conversation is ; more distracted is your mind off smoking. The best would be to partake of some gossip as it would bind your attention.

Another simple way to put a tab on your longings is to practice deep respiring. When you practice deep respiring, the body receives a good quantity of oxygen. This helps to reduce your longings. For deep respiring you’ve got to take a long and a big breath. Try to hold your breath for some time and then exhale slowly. The more you practice correct and deep respiring, less is your urge to smoke.

Go shopping. Now you aren’t smoking, you are not smoking, you would certainly cash that you would have otherwise spent on cigarettes. Go shopping and reward yourself for giving up smoking. As you continue to buy things you like, you will not be reminded of smoking.

Nibble gum. Chewing gum can help a great deal in curtailing your craving for cigarettes. Go in for the mint flavored ones as they work fine for non smokers.

Each of these straightforward things will ensure that your intellect stays targeted away from ciga-rettes and on to other, better activities.
