The ability of someone to have a strong network is important for many reasons. It can assist people in all different situations and proves to be extremely helpful in terms of being successful in life.
Networking is the lynchpin that can make or break a career. It can lead to that perfect job or even give you access to exclusive situations that most people cannot get.
Job seekers who have a strong network certainly will have a much easier time gaining employment than individuals who don’t know anyone and can only submit their resume blindly. The power of knowing someone directly at the company or having a connection to them is immensely helpful as you are a lot more prone to getting called for an interview.
Employees who are in business development and are in charge of forming partnerships with other companies benefit greatly by having a large network of people in that industry who they can call on. Having many individuals at their fingertips will allow them to obtain the connections they need to get the necessary introductions to make an intended deal.
Likewise, salespeople have a distinct advantage if their network is overflowing with people who help out with leads. When something needs to get sold, being able to contact a list of potential consumers can catapult a salesperson to the top.
Venture capitalists are known to be some of the best networkers in the world, since the fate of their business depends on knowing and hearing the pitches of as many entrepreneurs as possible. Although, these financial professionals only invest in a few deals each year, they want to meet with more and more companies to expand their pool of potential investments.
The explosion of social networking on the Web has led to a networking culture that has benefited society immensely. Anyone now can meet people online, stay in contact and expand their network to help them at some point down the road.
Whatever you do for your career, networking can benefit you in many ways. The people who take this seriously and make an effort in keeping up their network are normally the ones who succeed in life.
