Benefits Of Wearing Organic Clothes

By David Green

Despite our awareness of the stress that unsustainable habits can have our planet, the decision to adopt environmentally friendly living choices is not always easy to do. Even still, a growing number of families and organizations are making efforts to go green. For example, solar power is getting to be more easy to adopt. Additionally, there are tons of additional things that regular people can implement to benefit the environment. One possible thing is to purchase organic clothing.

Maybe you are familiar with the idea of organic food, but you might not be so familiar with organic clothing. What is it anyways? When we refer to organic items, we mean any that don’t add chemical pesticides and fertilizers to the soil and water. This helps support the variety of plant and animal life within the ecosystem.

Cotton is the most widespread fabric, and sadly it is also the crop with the single largest impact on the environment. Are you aware that 25% of all pesticides are used on cotton crops?

Organic cotton, on the other hand, is harvested without any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Instead, the cotton is grown through natural methods. More organic materials such as hemp and bamboo are also eco friendly natural fibers for organic clothing.

An important benefit of organic clothing would be the fact that it is more mild on your skin. Due to the fact that the garments are lacking any traces of dangerous chemicals, they shouldn’t lead to skin reactions. Furthermore, clothing made from bamboo is naturally anti-bacterial.

If we select organic clothing, we cut down on the concentration of pollutants slipping into the ecosystem. The old style farm practices cause large amounts of chemicals to penetrate the earth and spread out to the water. This is a increasing cause of health problems in the modern day. But when we buy organic garments, we will be supporting the efforts of organic agriculture that don’t damage the ecosystem.

Many organic clothing materials such as bamboo and hemp are very durable. They still look great after a lot of wash cycles and last longer than non-organic fabrics.

When we opt to wear eco friendly garments, we are helping make life better for all the employees who grow clothing fiber crops. Their homes and families are spared from the risk of a dangerous build up of chemicals that originates from irresponsible farming methods.

Now that you know all these benefits, we should not be surprised that greater numbers of clothing manufacturers are shifting over to designing organic clothes.
