If you’ve been feeling the financial pinch, you may be thinking of cutting vacations out of your budget to save money. Some of the ideas you are about to pick up may guide you to a more enjoyable, less expensive travel experience.
Pack minimally, and plan your itinerary when you are going on a trip. Organization is the key to having an enjoyable trip that includes all of your favorite activities and attractions.
Be wary of travel deal emails. Unless you specifically asked for the emails, don’t open them.
When traveling, and sitting for long periods of time, get up about once every hour to stretch out your legs. If on a plane, go to the restroom even if you don’t need to. You can hurt your muscles and perhaps get a blood clot if you sit in the same position for too long.
When you go on a trip, plan your itinerary beforehand, and only pack what you need to fulfill that itinerary. Organization will provide a fun and activity filled trip.
If you are going on a camping trip and planning on hiking make sure you have maps of the area that you are in and carry them with you. You should carry a compass, or even a GPS, so you can navigate in unfamiliar territory. Make sure you know how to use them!
Don’t bring any unnecessary valuables with you. An excess of valuables will make you an obvious target for theft.
These are a common airport fixture that will keep your children happy while you wait. This will help your children relax and tire themselves out for a good nap on the next flight.
Get yourself a National Parks Pass if you think you will be visiting often. The cost is only 50 dollars and good for admission to all national parks for the one year time frame.
This will enable you to hook your laptop up to the hotel tv. This will allow you to watch movies through your Netflix account, or streaming video, instead of ordering expensive pay-per-view movies offered through your hotel.
Do not bring anything valuable that you will not need. An excess of valuables will make you an obvious target for theft.
The National Park Pass is a good investment if you will be making frequent visits to the National Parks. They cost $50 and are good for all the parks for one year.
Contact cases can be used for more than just holding contact lenses, and are wonderful to have on a trip. These items are great for carrying gels and lotions if you only need a small amount of the product.
Leave your valuables at home. The more you take with you, the higher your chances of losing the items. Even worse, they could be stolen.
If you plan on camping or hiking, it is important that you obtain and carry maps of the locations you plan to visit. You’ll need a compass to make sense of the maps, but a GPS would be the ultimate safety tool.
Take some A/V cables so you can hook up your computer to the TV when you are in the hotel. Instead of paying out the nose for hotel movies, you will be able to enjoy the best that Netflix and other similar services have to offer.
If you are told a hotel has no more rooms available, ask if they have a room that is out of service. If a room has minor issues that need fixing, such as a carpet stain that needs to cleaned, or walls that need repainting, hotels typically classify it as out of service.
When going on a trip with your pet, look for pet friendly accommodations. There are many hotels that allow pets, but see what the requirements are and if there are any added fees to let your pet tag along. Look in various places before choosing one that fits you and your pet’s needs.
