One of the more popular conventional methods of advertising and promoting your company and your product and services is by giving out business gifts to the individuals who have helped contribute to the company’s business. Besides that, it can also help create good and working business relationships with the receivers of the gifts. Companies would present these business gifts to the people who have a deep and lasting impact on the company such as the partners of the respective company, the people and other companies in your existing client base, your boss or manager, the clients who have been supportive of your company’s products and services after so many years, and any other person who have influence over your company’s performance. One crucial matter to remember is that the total costs you spend on the gifts is an investment for the future, and the amount spent is not little. But, there is always the problem that even after spending so much time and effort and not to mention money on the gifts, you still cannot obtain the expected results or business that you have initially hoped for. After you calculated, the amount of returns from your investment in the gifts is less than what you have expected and still, you cannot see what is wrong with the strategy.

Many companies invest on promotional gift items for one reason and one reason alone: to earn more. As mentioned, giving away promotional gifts to partners, clients, and costumers, improves relationship which will in turn, convert to income. This is because the gesture of gift giving is remembered as well as the name of the company and the product and services it offers. Meanwhile, the company that only gets back the amount on money it has investment on corporate promotional gift item is definitely doing it the wrong way.

Before you present these gifts to the recipients, always sit down and consider the amount of business or income they can bring to the company before giving them out. If the respective individual is providing your company with substancial amounts of business, then it is okay to give them valuable gifts. But, if they are not one of your major clients then it would only be a loss to your company to give them more valuable and priceless presents. What is the point of gaining the hearts of the smaller clients when you can present the promotional items to the bigger clients and win more business instead? The act is like committing business suicide when you present gifts to recipients that you know are unable to present you back with at least the same amount of business.

In words that are easier to understand, you have to consider the amount of business the receivers of the gifts are bringing to the company and how influential they are to the company when thinking of presenting them with the business gifts.

This only says that when the company plans to give away promotional gift items to many people, it has to be cheap but relevant. Cheap and relevant in the sense that the item maximizes the budget of the company but still getting the expected amount of return.

So unless you are giving away something to one or two person, better settle for cheap yet effective corporate promotional gift. But then you ask, “Is cheap relative to low-quality?” In a sense, it is. But it does not always have to be the case. There are cheap promotional gift items that are effective in serving the purpose of the company yet possess that high quality that would definitely increase the face value of the product as well as the name of the company. These items may cost as cheap as $5 over the internet and may even cost less if purchase by bulk. To make it more effective, cheap promotional gift items should be useful and related to the type of product or service the company has.

The main goal of the corporate gifts, especially the low costs types, should be to gain more business for the company so it would earn more profit. There should be a message of gratitude within the gifts, presenting your deepest thanks to the recipients for their contribution to the company’s exceptional business performance while promoting your company’s name. No matter what, it is important to ensure that the items are of the best quality available, and it is related to your company’s products and services and that the recipient would use the gift items frequently.
