10 Fun Things To Do In Sarasota, Florida

By Marc Rasmussen

Are you taking a vacation to Sarasota, Florida? This is a fabulous place to bring your family for a little rest and relaxation. Here are ten fun things to do in Sarasota:

1) Play at St. Armand’s Circle – This is a fun destination. Tourists and residents love to visit here to grab a meal with friends or family. You can also shop, be pampered at a spa, enjoy an ice cream or sit at Starbucks at people watch.

2) Enjoy the beach – Sarasota, Florida has some of the nicest beaches in the world. Siesta Key beach was recently ranked as the 2nd prettiest beach in the country by Dr. Beach. Spend a day swimming, relaxing, walking or playing on the beach.

3) Parasail – Are you the adventurous type? If so you should go to Siesta Key and hire a company that will take you on a parasail ride. Basically, you and two friends will be attached to a parachute and be pulled by a rope from a boat. You will soar hundreds of feet in the air like a bird.

4) Hop on a boat – It is so fun to cruise around the Sarasota bay and Gulf of Mexico in a boat. Take a spin by all of the waterfront mansions and beautiful nature. Sarasota is a gorgeous area and is fun to see from the water.

5) Fishing – Do you enjoy a day of fishing? Hire a local captain and go fishing for the day. I have done that it is a blast. If you do this in the summer time you can run out offshore and do some tarpon fishing.

6) Eat a burger at the Hob Nob – The Hob Nob is a little dive on US 301. There is nothing fancy here but when the weather is nice it is an interesting place to grab a bite to eat.

7) Asolo Theatre – Do you enjoy a play? Go to one of the many fine performances at the Asolo Theatre in Sarasota.

8) Ringling Bridge – Need some exercise? Go for a run over the Ringling Bridge. The views are breathtaking making it a real pleasure to exercise.

9) Hop on a bike – Longboat Key is a great place to do a long bike ride. This 11 mile long barrier island has a side walk as well as a bike path. You can go as fast or slow as you wish and you will really enjoy the water views.

10) Admire real estate – Jump in your rental car and look at some amazing real estate. Drive over to Lido Key, Bird Key, Casey Key, Longboat Key and Siesta Key. Take a spine by some of the finest waterfront mansions in the area.

Sarasota, Florida is a great place to take the family on a vacation. There are many more fun things to do than what I have written above. You may like Sarasota so much that you may ultimately decide to make it your permanent home. As a vacationed you can find as much or as little as you want to do.
