Amazing Lakes Town Attractions

If you are deciding on a vacation spot, choose the Great Lakes attractions located right in the heart of the city and enjoy the pristine beaches and the peace and tranquillity away from the holiday crowds. Full of activities all year round, this newcomer holiday destination is still very new and also a great bargain.

Lakes Huron, Ontario, Superior, Michigan and Erie make up what is known as the Great Lakes. The lakes skirt along the US and Canadian borders. Their combined surface areas give them the distinction of being the biggest fresh water group of lakes on Earth. The largest of the lakes is Superior. It borders four states Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana. The lakes provide a recreational outlet to millions of Americans and Canadians. The Great Lakes Basin is the perfect background for an enjoyable vacation.

There are many activities to partake in at the Lakes including biking, climbing and hiking. There are parks as well as beaches for folks to spend a nice day at and should you wish to stay the night, camping equipment is available. You can have great fun at the Sand Dunes or you could canoe, kayak, go fishing, and kite surfing or just good old swimming. There are five beaches for your enjoyment including one in Indiana as well as two in Illinois and Michigan. If you go in the winter, surfing is a good activity.

The area is well known for boating recreationally and tourism is also a big player in the industry. In this area, Native American style fishing is a money making business and commercial and sport fishing are popular activities among locals and tourists alike.

If you are looking for a relaxing yet challenging activity, the Old Channel Trail is the place for you. Situated in Montague, Michigan, this place is a must for golf enthusiasts and is open from April all through to November and three nine courses available for your use.

Another exciting attraction is to go on the Lake Michigan Auto Ferry. This high speed auto ferry crosses Lake Michigan in two and one half hours. It is over 300 miles to drive around the lake from the departure point to the arrival point of the ferry. You get to experience the beauty and vastness of the lake.

The key to a great Great Lakes vacation is making sure you find just the right beach. The shoreline changes so rapidly in a short distance, so you have to shop carefully to find a beach with few people, algae and rocks. Most rentals are private owned homes that are readily available through numerous agencies that are readily found on the internet. The rentals are a lot less expensive than most resort areas. These are mostly good sized homes with all the comforts plus the luxury of unlimited water sports, canoe, tube or kayak and fishing.

Great Lakes vacations is what you are looking for if you like to be surrounded by beautiful scenery, but very few people. This is a little known freshwater beach area. Do as much or as little as you want. Just relax and enjoy.
