Ancient Peoples And Baffling Mysteries: Experiencing The Sands Of Egypt

As the home to one of the oldest civilizations on Earth, Egypt has been a popular vacation destination for ages. Five thousand years of history makes exploring Egypt a continually exciting sort of experience. Egypt, in its long history, has witnessed the birth of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, the reign of the Roman empire, the first written records, and innumerable discoveries in science, philosophy, and math. Simply wandering the streets of Egypt holds an atmosphere of discovery. So much cultural heritage is right at your fingertips in Egypt, and a travel passports can get the whole experience started.

A cruise along the Nile River is a relaxing and easy way to see some of Egypt’s most famous monuments. Glass-bottom boats provide a completely dry way to experience some of the life that inhabits the Nile. It’s hard to think of Egypt without thinking of the Pyramids of Giza. As the only one of the seven ancient wonders of the world to still remain intact, the Pyramid of Khufu still proves to be a spectacular sight. No one knows exactly what or why the pyramids were used for, but it’s generally accepted that they were used to bury pharaohs and ensure that they can pass comfortably into the afterlife. One of the biggest mysteries surrounding these pyramids is the secret of their construction. Over two million two ton blocks were used to build these pyramids, and how such huge blocks were transported still remains a mystery today.

Pyramids aren’t the only interesting historical sites in Egypt. Another famous landmark is the site of the Abu Simbel temples. These temples, located in the Nile River Valley, were crafted almost three thousand years ago. One temple, guarded by four huge statues, was build in order to honor Ramses II. The other was built as a temple to the sun god, but also as a monument to Ramses’ wife, Nefertiti. This spectacular sight can only be appreciated first hand, along with many more spectacular destinations. Other sites your must see are the Temple of Karnak, the West Bank, and Saladin Citadel. These sites are not only ancient and historical, but also always breathtaking.
