Boracay Philippines

By Monica Bernadez

Looking for some fun? Whatever you do, Don't Click Here!

Boracay’s beaches will rival the beaches in Indonesia and Thailand. It is truly world-class – not just for the beaches but the other attractions as well – dining, entertainment and sports. Boracay is a small island that is bone or butterfly-shaped. From Manila, the capital of the Philippines, it will take half an hour to 45 minutes to Boracay. It is located in Western Visayas, at the tip of Panay Island.

Its laid-back atmosphere, balmy weather, powdery white sand, warm waters and glorious sunsets are known the world over. The island is also a haven for water sports enthusiasts. You can go kite-surfing, sailing, banana-boat riding, snorkeling and scuba diving.

Boracay Island has plenty of great beaches. There is the popular White Beach, Diniwid Beach, Punta Beach, Balinghai Beach and so much more. There are a number of sandy coves nestled around the island and even more little islands surrounding Boracay.

You can also try to climb up Mount Luho, which is 100 meters above sea level. After an exhilarating climb, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the island and the surrounding waters. If you are so inclined, you can go to the northeast coast of Yapak. There, you will find the home of huge fruit bats and cave bats. At night, thousands of these bats fly right over your head. Another eerie experience is to be had at the Dead Forest, where dead trees cast their ghost-like shadows.

For family oriented activities, you can try the butterfly garden at Bolabog Beach. Kingfisher’s Farm features a fish farm that raises tilapia. You can try your hand at catching your meal. Boracay Rock and Willy’s Rock are fascinating rock formations. The surrounding beach is also great for picking shells and looking at starfish.

The fun does not stop during the day. When nighttime falls, the island pulsates with a different life. The lighted and intricately sculpted sandcastles signal the start of the partying. You can try your hand at fire dancing, or if that would be too hard for you, you can do the regular kind of dancing.
