Finding The Best San Jose Hotels

By William Holliday

I know you might not want to hear this, but if you’re planning a trip to the Bay Area, the best San Jose hotels far outshine the ones in San Francisco. It’s just a fact and one that most San Franciscans would rather not accept. The bottom line is San Jose has made it a standard operating procedure to cater to business travelers and curious travelers.

Invariably, you will find nicer hotels for less in San Jose. How does that help you? Well, you will be paying less than if you had booked a room in a San Fran hotel and you will in one of the warmest, sunniest parts of the Bay Area. I know that does not sound like much, but once you get here, you’ll be thankful you’re not stuck in fog city every night.

In the Bay Area, San Jose kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s warmer, sunnier, and bigger than all the other cities, including San Fran and Oakland. It’s also closely affiliated with Stanford University and is the self-proclaimed capital of Silicon Valley. All these factors make it a very ambitious and status conscious city, two qualities that seem out of place in the Bay.

For tourists coming to see the Golden Gate and Alcatraz, staying in San Jose will save you a considerable amount of money. How much depends on the time of year and the demand. But, by and large, your room will be bigger and better than the ones you might find towards the west. As long as you don’t mind driving to get around, you’re all set.

Unfortunately, the BART rail has yet to make its way down to San Jose. But, there are plans to start an extension as soon as 2012. It’s about time if you ask the locals. What’s surprising is that all that venture capital in San Jose hasn’t made it happen sooner. Regardless, you’ll be happy in San Jose.

Some of the best San Jose hotels can be found in and around downtown. Book your room online and enjoy.
