Munich in Germany : A Safe Town With Lots To Do
Positioned on the banks of the River Isar, to the north of the Alps is Munich. As well as being the third largest city in Germany, it’s the provincial capital of Bavaria. It is a preferred visitor destination due to its location and leisure facilities.
You may land at the Franz Josef Strauss World airport if you are flying to Munich. There is a regular suburban train service between the airport and the key rail station, with an excursion time of approximately 45 min. If you are arriving from another destination within Europe you could well be arriving on one out of many high speed trains, for example the ICE, that frequent the station.
Getting round the city is both safe and enjoyable. There’s a comprehensive network of trams and tube trains to speed you round the city in comfort. This complements the prioritised pedestrian areas that link the historical areas of the city. Vehicles have a limited passage across the center though the cycleways and footpaths will take you thru the major public areas and open spaces.
There are a number of culinary dishes that are restricted to this region. The most famed is perhaps the white sausage, a delicacy that’s usually accompanied with a sweet mustard and a fresh pretzel. Strudels are also preferred, particularly the apple, and cream cheese, types. There are also a number of dishes that include dumplings which are well worth tasting.
The city also homes a large amount of interesting museums and studios. It is home to one of the oldest science museums in the world, the Deutsche Museum. There is also a museum dedicated to the BMW motor company. If you are curious about visiting art studios, the most well-known is the Alte Pinakothek. Theater and music aficionados are also homed for with the Deutsches theater and the Residence theater, the home to the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Bavaria.
If you are looking out for a place to chill and just watch the world go by, there are a number of parks in the city. The two most famous ones are the Hirschgarten and the Englischer Garten. The latter being one of the biggest urban parks anywhere to be found. There is also a city zoo, it is called Tierpark Hellabrunn, and can be found close to Flaucher Island. An ideal place to go to if there are kids in your tour party.
Whenever Munich is discussed, folks regularly think of the Oktoberfest, which ironically usually starts in September. It pulls millions of people every year, though it is not just the beer that they come for. The holiday offers awfully elaborate parades, concerts, dancing, and the traditional oompah music connected with the area.
It doesn’t matter what your age is, you are certain to find something to interest you in Munich Germany. Whether you need to take part, or simply watch, major sporting occasions, or take a ramble round the pedestrianized streets admiring the design of the city you will find the city to your preference. Even though you only have a day to spare in your busy agenda, you will not regret spending it in this city.
