There’s nothing like the soft touch of hotel bedding. Bring that standard of luxury home.
By Pluto Graham
Don’t lose sleep over switching your bedding to a hotel collection. There are more than a few bedding suppliers claiming to have “hotel quality bedding,” which is really just marketing buzz.
Here’s a few tips to figure out if the hotel bedding you’re looking at is the genuine article, or just an imitator:
Hotel bedding is a real claim. 5 star hotels all over the world pick soft and reliable bedding that can hold up through constant washings. If the bedding isn’t actually being used by a hotel, it’s not the real thing.
Hotel comforters get their marshmallow like comfortableness from a high fill power. Starting at 550 fill power of goose down feathers, these comforters will give you the soft and fluffy insulation for any season of the year. The hotel comforters main feature is barrier weave technology that inhibits any leakage of the down feathers, while remaining soft and supple.
They’re softer – unlike standard pillows, many of the hotel collection pillows feature an inner pillow of small feathers supported by an outer layer of down feathers. This construction maintains the pillow’s strength and integrity without compromising the overall comfort.
Also, many bedding manufacturers like to inflate the thread count in their sheets using a high pick and high ply construction. Sheets with multiple picks are noticeably bumpy and can have a more rough texture.
Genuine hotel collection bed sheets use a single pick/ply construction, which can only yield a 400-thread count, but these sheets are light, soft and strong.
Keep a sharp eye for copycats. There’s a lot of imitators out there, but when you do the research to find the best hotel bedding, you may never want to leave your room again.
